When Do you open and close for the Season?

We open on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend and close on Columbus Day, known here in Maine as Indigenous People’s Day.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in for campsites, which are units with no key, is at noon, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Check-in for accommodations, which include kitchen and bath units and Half Moons, is at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 10:00 AM.

What activities have an additional cost?

There are a few activities that have an additional cost, including laser tag, mini golf, arts and crafts and tie-dye, the antique carousel, gem mining, and boat rentals.

What is included in the cost of accommodations?

The cost of an accommodation includes the number of people that can sleep in the unit. For example, if you rent a unit that sleeps six people, the cost of the unit includes six people.

What’s included in the cost of a camp site?

The cost of a campsite includes two adults and up to four children. If you have more people, you can bring up to eight people for an additional cost. A maximum of four adults are allowed on a site at any time.

Do the sites include picnic tables and fire rings?

Yes, every site, including all empty campsites and accommodations, has a picnic table and a fire ring.

How many cars allowed per campsite?

You can have up to two vehicles on your campsite as long as they fit within the designated area and don’t obstruct the roadway.

Do you allow golf carts or ATVs?

No, the use of golf carts is not allowed. ATVs cannot be ridden through the campground but can be brought on a trailer.

Can I bring my boat?

Yes, you may bring your non-motorized boat. However, motorboats are not allowed in Papoose Pond.

Can I bring my own firewood?

Yes, you can bring firewood from within the State of Maine, but you cannot bring firewood from outside the state. That’s due to the state’s effort to prevent the spread of invasive species.

Can we bring pallets to burn?

No, pallets or construction debris cannot be burned. Firewood is available to purchase on the property.

Do you have cable TV and Wifi?

Am I allowed visitors?

Yes, visitors are welcome; they do need to check in at the office and pay a small fee. However, they can’t bring their pets.

Is your water drinkable?

Yes, the water at the campground is safe to drink, and it is tested every month according to state regulations.

Do you allow generators?

No, the use of generators is not allowed.

Do you have a honey wagon?

Yes, a honey wagon is available for an additional fee.

Will I see a moose at Papoose?

The chance of seeing a moose at Papoose Pond is low, but there have been sightings in the past. The best chance of seeing a moose is in the spring or fall, especially in early June or September to October.

Do you have enforced quiet hours?

The quiet hours are from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and they are strictly enforced.

What is the Papoose Pond Pet Policy?

Well-behaved pets are welcome at Papoose Pond, with proof of rabies vaccine.

What is required to bring a pet to Papoose Pond?

You must bring proof of rabies vaccine with you.

Can visitors bring their pets?

No, visitors are not allowed to bring their pets. Only guests staying at the campground are allowed to have pets.

What are the pet cleaning responsibilities at Papoose Pond?

Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

Are pets allowed in all areas of Papoose Pond?

Pets are allowed in most places on the property, but they are not allowed on the beach, inside the store or cafe, or in the pool area. Pets are also not allowed in waterfront campsites or cabins. Pets must be on a leash at all times and under your control.

Where can I fish at Papoose Pond and do I need a license?

Yes, you can fish at Papoose Pond, and the types of fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, pickerel, crappy, and perch. You can fish from shore at the fishing lagoon, rent one of the non-motorized boats, or use your own boat. Anyone over 16 needs a fishing license, which can be obtained online.

What can I set up on my campsite?

You can set up one RV, two tents, or an RV, a tent, and a screen room. If you don’t have an RV or trailer, you can have three items, such as two tents and a screen room.

Is it safe to swim in the pond?

What is the difference between a day visitor and a night visitor?

Day visitors are allowed for a fee, and night visitors are also allowed for a fee. However, there is a maximum limit on the number of overnight guests allowed on a campsite.

What is included in the cost of renting an accommodation?

The cost of an accommodation includes the number of people that can sleep in the unit. For example, if you rent a unit that sleeps six people, the cost of the unit includes six people.

How do I rebook my site?

If you want to rebook the site that you’re on and you’re here for a full week in our summer, you can absolutely do that. You have until 3:00 PM on Thursday to do that. Come into the office and tell us that you want to rebook your site. For long weekends, like Memorial Day and Labor Day, check in at the office, and they will let you know what day need to rebook. For sites that you aren’t staying on but want to book for the next season, come into the office Thursday morning, right when we open at nine o’clock. You will get a number, and then you come back to the office at three o’clock. Anything that hasn’t been rebooked by the folks who are currently staying on those sites comes open for anybody to book.

What are sitelock fees?

Any time you book with us, you are guaranteed the site type that you booked. But if you want a specific numbered site or a specific location, that’s where the site lock fee comes into play.
