Covid-19 update 2020

Dear Papoose Pond Family,

We hope you and your family are healthy, happy and safe. We at Papoose take those things very seriously. As a direct result of COVID-19, this summer we must make changes to how we run things to best cater to our loyal guests.

For the summer of 2020, we will only accept stays between Thursday and Sunday; we will be closed to the public Monday through Wednesday. This will give us sufficient time each week to clean and prepare for our next guests. We will also be offering limited, social distancing activities and other amenities as allowed by the Maine Department of Health and Governor Mills. Because of the state’s restrictions on gathering sizes, we will be unable to offer nightly entertainment this summer. We are developing some activities that will follow social distancing guidelines.

Please see our Reservations and Policies page for guidelines for Out of State Residents. We will still be enforcing social distancing and all other State of Maine Guidelines.

Knowing that this is not the usual Papoose experience, we have put together the following options for all our guests with current reservations:

Weeklong Reservations:
Option 1: Come for a Thursday-Sunday reservation during your currently booked week (your current deposit will cover the entire trip). You will have the opportunity to rebook your site for 2021 at the same rate when you check in at your current rate.
Option 2: Move your reservation to 2021- same site and rate- by rolling your previously paid half deposit over into 2021.
Option 3: Receive a full refund. We will not be able to hold your site for 2021.  You will have the option to call to book a site, pending availability, on the Tuesday after that weekend has passed for a half deposit.

Shorter stays:
Option 1: If your reservation falls in the Thursday-Sunday time frame, keep your reservation as is. Upon check in, you will receive a camping credit in the amount of 25% of your total rate to be for a future stay. You will have the opportunity to rebook your site for 2021 upon check in at your current rate based on our regular rebooking policy.
Option 2: If your reservation falls outside of the Thursday-Sunday time frame and you would like to come, we will work with you to move to an available time and site. Upon check in, you will receive a camping credit in the amount of 25% of your total rate to be used for a future stay. You will have the opportunity to rebook your site for 2021 upon check in based on our regular rebooking policy.

Option 3: Receive a full refund.

Weekend Escapes:   At this time, we do not believe that we can do the Weekend Escapes the right way based on the current guidelines set forth by the Governor. For this reason, we have made the difficult decision to cancel 2020 Weekend Escapes.
Option 1: You may move your reservation to 2021-same site and rate- and the previously paid half deposit will be rolled over into next year.

Option 2: Receive a full refund. This option will mean you will be unable to rebook your site for 2021 until after September 7, pending availability.

Any Stays between September 8 and October 12:   We have decided to close the campground this year after Labor Day Weekend.
Option 1: You may move your reservation to 2021-same site and rate-by rolling your 2020 previously paid half deposit into next year.
Option 2: Receive a full refund. This option will mean you will be unable to rebook your site for 2021 until after September 7, pending availability.

This has not been an easy decision and we know this is not an easy time for many, so if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via phone or email. The Government of Maine is changing guidelines and restrictions quickly and we feel that this is the best way to help our loyal guests plan for 2020 and beyond.  Based on current guidelines, here are some of the things we believe we can offer.
